Ali

Neurology Nurse

Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing

Animals have always been a big part of Ali’s life. Since her childhood she’s been an avid horse lover and always dreamed of working with them. This love then evolved into working with small animals and onto working the veterinary industry.
Ali’s first nursing position was in a General Practice back in 2015. After completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and gaining some clinical experience, she decided to look for a new challenge. Moving into a role as an Emergency Nurse at the Animal Emergency Centre was exciting and she loved it. After spending many years in emergency, Ali then moved into speciality practice initially within a surgical role then onto internal medicine. She felt she’d found her place in speciality practice, but still had a niggle for something more. In 2022, Ali started as a Neurology nurse at VRH and hasn’t looked back!
Ali particularly enjoys nursing Neurological hospital patients back to health. These patients often require a high level of care and patience and you’ll often find Ali going above and beyond for them. She’s been been known to fill the ward calming music, groom the patient who can’t for themselves and hold puppies until they fall asleep. She’s passionate about her patients welfare and medical care.
Ali speaks about why she enjoys working at VRH:
“The team, everyone helps each other in all aspects of our roles. We have gold standard facilities and equipment to assist our patients meaning we can provide outstanding patient care. Working with neurology is always exciting and varied. We see cases that you just don’t see elsewhere.”
Outside of work Ali spends most of her free time training her young Border Collie Moose. They participate in obedience and are working up towards agility training.
